Johnson Outboards is a maker of outboard motors. The original company to make Johnson
inboard motors and outboard motors was the Johnson Bros. Motor Company of
Terre Haute, Indiana, United States. A few years after the Johnson brothers' factory
in Terre Haute was destroyed by a tornado in March 1913, the brothers relocated
to South Bend, Indiana and then Waukegan, Illinois. The company was first
acquired by Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) and then later by Bombardier Recreational
Products. Their outboards include 1 thriller 8 cylinders and have a
maximum of 300 horsepower, for stock engines. They differ in one large way from
Mercury Marine outboards, because they employed the V4 engine, whereas Mercury
used a straight engine. Today Johnson has changed a lot since they were bought by BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products). Now Evinrude, which is also a brand of BRP, has the widest range of models, and Johnson now only sell two stroke (carbureted) and four stroke engines in a horsepower-range of 9.9 to 25, while Evinrude sells between 25 and 300. Johnson has also only sales in a few countries compared with Evinrude. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

Changing the impeller on an 1990 Mariner 4 outboard |
http://www.reefari.com Fuel filters are an essential part of any outboard motor, and recommend changing regularly, every 100 hours is ideal, and ensure good clean fuel for your outboard motor. Today's modern 4 stroke engines and especially with fuel injectors block up easy, and hate water. I highly recommend a good quality inline fuel filter between your tank and motor and these racor fuel filters have a good sightglass where you can see Water accumulate before entering your motor. Water is one of the worst thing for today's four stroke. If Water does accumulate, easy to drain. Check out our video, but has heaps more on replacing the inline and the small filter on your motor. Your local marine dealer will stock these filters and are easy to change. I don't claim to be an expert by any means, but is an easy job which can save a few dollars. Keep an eye out for Water and will save a lot of grief. Check out our other videos on how to service your motor and change your gear oil, well worth watching. That's most of the servicing done on our project Cat, and we'll be back fishing soon, with some more great videos to come. Please subscribe for more great boating tips, and even better fishing.
